Our Services

Open Fireplace Inspection Level I

What is a Level 1 Inspection?

  • Recommended if you have not changed – and do not plan to change — your heating appliance or system.
  • Considered appropriate during annual service visit.
  • Technicians do not need to use tools to open or remove doors, panels, or coverings in order to examine the chimney exterior and interior.
  • Technicians may need commonly available tools to examine portions of the appliance and the chimney connection and the evaluation will not disrupt the chimney structure or finish.

  • Includes inspection by video scanning.

Open Fireplace Cleaning W/ Inspection

 Chimney Cleaning w/ Inspection Procedure:

We lay tarps out in front of the fireplace to insure that your carpet doesn’t get dirty and then set up a high speed dust collector with HEPA filters to make sure that no soot gets into your home.

  • We sweep the inside of your chimney, from the firebox floor to the chimney top.
  • We then clean, inspect, and adjust the damper and damper assembly.
  • We use brushes on rods to sweep the flue, hand brushes for the firebox and smoke chamber, and a vacuum with a triple layer HEPA filter to control dust.
  • After doing all of this we do a visual inspection of the outside of the chimney, checking the mortar work, brickwork and crown. Any damage or needed repairs we find is documented with digital photos that can be sent to you.
  • When we are through we will leave a copy of the written evaluation with you.
  • We recommend annual chimney inspections as does the NFPA.

Woodstove cleaning w/ inspection

A dirty wood stove can also lead to unpleasant smells in your home and furniture. And let me tell you, once that smell gets into your upholstery it’s difficult to get out.

Creosote is extremely flammable and can lead to a chimney fire. Creosote forms from a combination of moisture and debris not being fully consumed by the fire. This sticky substance builds up on the inside of your stovepipe, where if left unattended, it can become a serious fire hazard.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Believe it or not, dryer vents are now considered to be more of a fire hazard than chimneys. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued an alert due to the fact that there are 15,500 fires, 10 deaths and 310 injuries from dryer exhaust fires annually. This is due to dryers being clogged with lint, one of the most flammable substances in your home! We are happy to complete this service when we come out for your annual chimney cleaning. Doing the annual chimney system inspection at the same time is a great way to insure everything is off your to-do list for the year!

Chimney Caps

A chimney cap or spark arrestor has mesh wall coverings that are perfect for keeping out squirrels, birds and raccoons, etc. Chimney caps also help protect against the entry of leaves, twigs and other debris. Caps can help reduce some wind-induced downdrafts. Having one of these in place will help reduce the entry of rain and will slow down the deterioration of the internal chimney components. Pricing Varies.
